“I grew up in a military family with the values of honoring those who have given their everything to serve our country and keeping our communities safe,” said Anthony Perera, founder of Air Pros USA. “This giveaway contest allows us to thank the Veterans and active-duty servicemembers for their sacrifices as well as help out a local family in one small way.”
The winner of the Veterans Day Furnace Giveaway will be announced by Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
About the Finalists:
Adam Brown, Colorado Springs – Adam served his country in the United States Army for 20 years with assignments in Iraq, Kuwait, and South Korea before retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He suffered multiple injuries and disabilities from his service, such as brain injuries and memory loss from his exposure to explosives, as well as injuries to his back, ankle, and knees. He was also diagnosed with PTSD and traumatic brain injury. After retiring from the military, Adam changed six jobs within a short period as it was difficult for him to adjust and cope with the requirements due to his medical conditions. Recently he joined his wife, Jackie, to support her dog grooming company and help her grow the business, which was a therapeutic experience. Adam was nominated by a family friend because he and Jackie always step up to support friends and neighbors no matter what they need, whether it is providing shelter for friends or rescuing dogs and cats.
Michael Glasgow, Colorado Springs – Michael served his country in the United States Air Force for 21-years. He signed up in high school to join the Oklahoma Army National Guard, and 17-months later joined the U.S. Air Force serving first in Washington D.C. based at Andrews AFB. Michael later served at Air Force bases in Alaska, Colorado, and Montana, where he retired as a Technical Sergeant. Michael has a 70 percent disability with shoulder, neck, arm, and back injuries, and he had open-heart surgery in 2012. Following retirement, Michael launched a new business in the mortgage industry until 2006. He worked at the VA office for about 2-years, then joined the Office of Health Care programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he is now Senior Account Executive. Michael raised 7-children and now has 18-grandchildren.
