Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District

Located at 500 Main Street, Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District puts you and your family right in Downtown Dallas and nearby many other popular attractions and dining establishments. The Texas School Book Depository is located within the plaza and is now a museum. This historic site is one of the first places people think of visiting when getting to know the city of Dallas and its historical roots within the Lonestar State.

Deep Ellum

Deep Ellum, also referred to as Deep Elm, is an old warehouse district that has been transformed into a shopping district and hotspot for Dallas nightlife. It is also in the area of Main Street in Downtown Dallas. Pecan Lodge is one of the favorite stops people like to make when exploring Deep Ellum. You’re going to find some great barbecue while there, too, and there are also a few breweries in the area. Deep Elm features quite the hipster charm.

Pioneer Plaza

Situated between Young and Griffin Streets is Pioneer Plaza, a site featuring landmarks of historical significance, honoring the culture of Texas and its pioneers. The cattle drive sculptures are a sight to behold, and there is also an old graveyard within the plaza. Moreover the beautiful plaza is quite unique, serving as a park, too, and plaques provide information relevant to the historical significance of the sculptures.

Dallas Farmers Market

Split between two buildings, the farmers market is between a shed and a 26,000 square foot shopping center. The shopping center, referred to as the “market” is open daily, while the farmer’s market (located in the shed) is open on weekends. Its a historic site that has been around since 1941. There are quite a few restaurants to choose from, and there are many unique gift outlets, too. Make sure you visit on a weekend so you can check out both places.

Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge

The architectural design of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is something to behold. Taking the time to check out this bridge also gives you a different perception of the Dallas skyline. If you want to catch a glimpse of the bridge from afar, you can do so while walking the paved nature trail that runs along Trinity River. If you check out the bridge while hiking the trail, you also want to make your way to Trinity Groves, which is home to quite a few good restaurants.

The Bishop Arts District is located on Bishop Avenue at Oak Cliff. The atmosphere within this district is quite unique, and there are all kinds of interesting shops to browse there.
